“2024 Unplugged” Is A Smashing Success

The High River Chamber of Commerce along with 99.7 Sun Country, AM 1140 and High River Online welcomed three local politicians to town this past Monday night.

The event was a way of showing support locally for the small business owners that provide so much to our community and a way to engage everyone on how local, provincial and federal politicians are plugged in locally and how their decisions affect us locally.

The night unfolded with each local politician sharing a few highlights from 2023 but more importantly some of the projects they have on the go for 2024 and what they're really fighting for this year.

Knee Deep was the setting for High River Deputy Mayor Michael Nychyk, Livingstone-Macleod MLA Chelsae Petrovic and Foothills MP John Barlow.

Each took turns sharing their thoughts about local hot topics such as the water situation, the carbon tax, the housing shortage and how vital agriculture is to our area.  The topic of wind and solar power and taking over key agriculture land was also a hot button. And one of the issues that him home with almost everyone was the lack of proper Wi-Fi and internet providers with fibre optics being a hurdle to overcome, especially for local businesses both traditional and home-based businesses.

The High River Chamber of Commerce sent out invites to all its members with many taking part in the evening's topics and discussions.

Refreshments and snacks were provided from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Guests were left with a feeling of optimism and hope for a bright new year ahead and mingled afterwards getting some one-on-one time.
